Market dataIndonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world, with nearly 285 million people, and is the 16th largest economy in the world, ranking 8th in purchasing power. With its rapidly growing GDP, abundant natural resources, and low labor costs, it has become a strong member of the global emerging markets. Indonesia's telecommunications market is expected to experience significant growth between 2025 and 2030, with market size increasing from about $15 billion in 2025 to $30 billion in 2030, at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 10%. This growth is primarily driven by government digital transformation policies, the continuous increase of mobile internet users, and the improvement of telecommunications infrastructure. As of 2024, mobile internet users have exceeded 250 million, and it is expected to surpass 350 million by 2030. The increase in smartphone penetration and the reduction in mobile data tariffs further expand the market base.Indonesia is the world's third-largest mobile communications market after China and India. According to GSMA data, as of early 2025, the number of mobile phone subscriptions in Indonesia is 356 million, which is 125% of its total population. This means that it is not uncommon for the same person in Indonesia to use multiple mobile numbers. According to forecasts by the U.S. International Trade Administration (ITA), Indonesia's telecommunications market is expected to reach about 13.4 billion USD in 2025 and is expected to maintain steady growth after 2027, with huge market potential.
